Central Coast DBT
Central Coast DBT provides comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to adolescents and young adults in Santa Barbara County and surrounding areas.
Our team, led by Dr. Angela Vigna, specializes in treating adolescents and adults who struggle controlling emotions and have impulsive behaviors that often result in harmful long-term consequences, particularly behaviors such as suicidal ideation, self-harm and intense aggression. We specialize in treating disorders that often feature emotion dysregulation and impulsivity such as depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, DMDD, PTSD, and Borderline Personality Disorder.
Central Coast DBT offers DBT programs for adults/adolescents and we provide individual and family therapy, DBT skills training groups, case management, phone coaching and assessment as needed.
What is DBT?
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is a psychotherapy approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with the added benefit of incorporation of the eastern philosophy of mindfulness to allow for treatment that balances acceptance and change. DBT is an intensive outpatient treatment and is evidenced based for treating chronic emotion dysregulation that often manifests as serious mental health issues such as depression, intense anxiety, uncontrollable anger, and constant crises. DBT is particularly effective in targeting the impulsive and dangerous behaviors that are common with emotion dysregulation such as suicidal gestures/attempts, self-harm, intense anger, and aggression.
